Transmetropolitain

1. Are there any prominent symbols in the story? if so what are they and how are they used?
One of the main symbols i noticed were his weapons. he uses his weapons as a comfort to what he knows. He does not like something his weapons come out, he gets angry his weapons come out, he does not get his way his weapons come out. basically his weapons are part of his and what he stands for.

2. What connections did you make with the story? Discuss the elements of the work with which you were able to connect.
On his way back into the city he was meet with a million different little advertisements from billboards to radio ads to people selling ad space on their own bodies. In this time and age everything is an advertisement and at times it can get overwhelming and you just need to get away from it all for a while. At times i wish i could just get away from it all, it just seems to get out of control, the media spins stories in wrong directions and you cannot trust in everything you hear.

3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you use? What changes would you make?
This story is so animated in the way it is laid out and written it would be perfect as an animated feature. With how the world of journalism is up in your face you could take all these dumb little ads throughout the story and throw them in the face of the consumer to show how the world could be. Spider is a great character, he is all up in everyones face and is not afraid to be out there and get the job done. Not many changes would need to happen but the one thing i would change is that Spider would have to get even more crazy and violent in order to achieve the goals he is looking for.
